The humidity is extremely high this morning, and so is our chances of seeing another severe storm. Local severe storms, are becoming somewhat of a regularity to us this season, and today, we will see another one that comes with the potential for up to 2 inches of rain an hour in areas of the heaviest rainfall. A flash flood watch is in effect from noon until late tonight, meaning that conditions could lead to flash flooding, which could be dangerous. This thunderstorm will have a high potential for damaging and severe winds, as well as a chance of hail, and a slight chance of seeing another tornado formation.
As we have talked about in previous posts, with such weather, your gutters may be effected. During times of heavy rain, especially the downpour that is expected this afternoon/evening, gutter problems may become visible/obvious. During the storm, if you notice that your gutters are doing any of the following, this likely means that your gutters may need a replacement or a repair:
- Overflowing your gutter system
- Overshooting your gutter completely
- Water is leaking from a section of gutter
- Water is flowing between gutter and fascia
- Large amount of water pooling at your foundation
Please visit our blog Gutter Problems In Rain for more details on what could be causing these issues and how to remedy them.
Additionally, such severe storms have the potential to cause damages to your gutters like:
- Tearing down your gutters
- Knocking down trees that land on your gutters
- High amounts of large flying debris
- Gutter overflow created by increased debris
- Damaging hail
