When it comes to providing a five-star gutter service, the gutter materials we install are just as important as our installation process. Here at The Brothers That Just Do Gutters, we are always looking for the very best products on the market to offer our clients. If we see a product not meeting our expectations, we search for one that does. Whether it’s a seamless gutter, gutter guard, hanger, or other gutter-related product, The Brothers are always striving to provide the very best products and materials available.
Gutter Materials
Looking for the best gutter materials sometimes requires you to find one to replace what you’re already using. This very circumstance occurred when we replaced the hangers we used. It’s not that the old hangers we were using were bad hangers. The updated hidden hanger not only looks and feels substantially stronger, when properly installed it can support over 200 lbs. Although we choose a stronger hanger, it doesn’t mean we use less hangers. A typical suggestion for hanger spacing is to place one every four feet. We install them every two feet because we have seen the gutters start sagging after the first year of installation.
Leaf Protection
When it comes to leaf protection, there are dozens of gutter guards on the market; steel mesh screens, reverse curve, brush inserts, foam, and many more. We’ve been installing and removing gutter guards for over ten years and we’ve installed nearly every type. As we have managed the fallout from using guards that don’t work, we had to search nationwide to find one that would eventually work for us. The guard we work with not only performs well for our clients, it is the only completely enclosed system on the market. From the miters to the downspout caps, the system is completely sealed against any leaf, debris, or pest. The materials used in the guard combined with the design creates a gutter guard we are confident in. This allows us to offer state of the art systems to our home owners across all of our territories.
Why We Are Selective
It not just the gutter materials we choose to install that is important, it’s also important to note the materials we don’t use. When it comes to gutters we offer four materials; aluminum, galvanized steel, galvalume, and copper. We use those four because we’ve found them to work best and most consistently in more weather conditions than other materials such as wood, vinyl, or fiberglass. We could easily offer every material we can find to give our customers more options but we only want to offer products that are not only going to work, but that are also going to last.
Even seamless gutters have to be caulked to seal the various pieces of the gutter system. When putting end caps on the end of the gutter, we seal it with a silicon gel. Also, when we install Galvanized and Galvalume, we use silicon to seal the seams since solder won’t stick to these materials. When it comes to silicon, The Brothers That Just Do Gutters are not satisfied with an “all-weather” caulk or cheaper sealant. We’re so confident in our process that it adds strength that we use it for all the sealing we do. Just shy of binding hangers to copper gutters, with which we solder.
In our years of installing, we continue to appraise and evaluate gutter products we use. When something better comes along, we want to be the first to adopt it into our processes. For more on the materials we use head to the Materials section of our website.
