What makes it stand out from any other mesh gutter guard? – Part 5
We have covered a lot in our last 4 parts about the Leaf Solution gutter guard. It would be difficult to find such a comprehensive guide to the factors contributing to a quality gutter guard. We have come to appreciate the product and even believe that it will add to the life of your gutter guard simply by keeping it clear.
In this part, we will discuss the last factor contributing to Leaf Solution being our choice as the best guard. We will also wrap up the past articles with a link to them at the end.
The micromesh conforms to the under structure of the guard. This allows the redundant dips to function as they are intended and create a siphon effect pulling the water into the guard.
In our discussions of the other attributes to the making of a great gutter guard, many of the guard’s construction features have also been satisfied. Since this is the last section of our Leaf Solution article, it seems right that it is also our recap of the past few articles.
Leaf Solution’s construction allows the mesh to be properly supported underneath with a strong grid so it won’t cave in. This enables the design of the guard to offer a large mesh surface. In turn, the larger mesh opening allows for the 3-dip design.
The dips helps to conform the mesh to the understructure which is important to allow the guard to function as it’s designed and syphon the water into the channels. The weave that connects the mesh to the guard is patented by Leaf Solution. If the mesh does not conform to the guard, the understructure may cave downward separating from the mesh which in turn causes overflow.
There is something to be said about aluminum’s strength – after all, we use it in our gutters. To get the same tensile strength out of an aluminum guard that you get from a aluminum gutter would require a lot thinker gauge. In our experience, the gutter needs to be the stronger of construction. The gutter will bear it’s own weight plus the weight on the leaf guard.
Leaf Solution is constructed with the right gauge aluminum allowing it to retain a rigid construction but enabling the shingles to remain unaffected. From the shape of the understructure grid to the weave that connects the mesh to the guard, the materials and construction has been optimized throughout the years to make it work the most effectively.
We have conducted our own research into other mesh guards. If we have to back a product, we want it to first help us. A lot of guard’s construction remain simple and so we can tell right away it won’t work. The guards are either casted from a mold or stamped out of piece of plastic. Leaf Solution is a construction of various materials woven together.
A search of the internet will reveal some startling images of other mesh guards. We were surprised to find images of wavy gutter guards. There should be no reason for the waves in the guards if they were constructed properly. We have experienced a few callbacks on installs of Leaf Solution. It was usually because the debris hadn’t yet blown off the guard and was concerning the home owner. Each time we went back, the guards looked the same as the day we installed them and that’s a testament to the construction of the guard.
OUR VIEW POINT
From our perspective, we need guards that perform. Our business is built on the foundation of quality service. Too many return trips to remedy problems associated with our gutter services will quickly dry up our profit. If a guard is failing, it means we have to revisit too often. This is the mentality that has caused us to shed ourselves of the failing gutter guards. We need a product that supports our efforts to provide the best solution to our customers.
There will be instances where a cheaper guard will work. In fact, many people testify to DIY mesh guards working well enough that they don’t mind the extra labor associated with keeping them clean. When they do stop working, it isn’t as big a loss to the homeowner. When the responsibility is on our shoulders to support a claim a gutter manufacturer is making, we want to make sure they are making that claim in good faith. There are many gutter guard companies that will make a claim knowing they don’t have to go back to service the failing product – we do.
The last five articles about Leaf Solution covered a lot. If you need to revisit them, here is a quick list.
