Each year we seem to be experiencing more extreme weather conditions specifically during the early summer months, and that could mean trouble for your gutter system if they have not been properly cleaned. Most often when gutters are experiencing overflow, it is due to some sort of clog within the system. These clogs can come from falling leaves, twigs, debris and other particles in the air. The build up of this debris is what causes clogs. These clogs may not become evident to you until we get heavy rainfall. Water cannot flow correctly through clogged gutters caused by the debris buildup, and this is when your gutters begin to overflow.
Cleaning your gutters regularly is not only healthy for your system, but it can preserve longevity and prevent your gutters from flooding. Repeated flooding of your gutters each rainfall can potentially cause more costly damage to your home and foundation later on. Your gutter system can last up to 30 years provided they are cleaned on a regular basis. If the gutter system is clean the water can flow regularly, overflow can be avoided, and this will allow the system to work properly.

One of our loyal customers, Susan P. from New Windsor sees the benefits in having her gutters cleaned regularly and is also a part of our Maintenance Agreement System. Here is what she had to say:
“The Brothers That Just Do Gutters have provided me with a professional gutter cleaning service for two years now. I will continue using them. Their work is professional, neat and clean. The staff is professional and friendly. I especially appreciated getting feedback on the ‘health’ of my gutters after they were cleaned. I am contacted for an annual gutter cleaning and The Brothers that just do Gutters schedule the service, communicate the schedule, call when they are on their way to my home, and deliver service – neat and complete!”
Recently our Lehigh Valley, PA location experienced tornado like storms damaging many homes and gutter systems. One incident occurred in this location where five hours after we cleaned the clients gutters they were refilled with overflowing water and debris because of the severity of this storm. This is a reminder of the importance of cleaning your gutters regularly, and although it is summer, and there are no obvious leaves falling, clogs and overflow is still possible during rainfall.
Scheduling gutter cleanings routinely can help to avoid the panic when the next big storm hits and your gutters start overflowing. It is better to be over prepared than not prepared at all, right? Will your homes gutters be prepared for our next storm?
